Musk Duck at Tidbinbilla
Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve, Wednesday 21 December 2005
The drake Musk Duck Biziura lobata, said to be son of 'Ripper' - the famous drake that entertained at Tidbinbilla for many years - performed for a short while on the main pond but the light was never very good and I was not happy with the conditions for picture taking. All the same the following seemed worth posting.
He did not go into display but simply appeared from nowhere, came up to the boardwalk where he dived for some minutes, preened and then heading off for the shoreline to the N where he successfully took yabbies in a short spell of intensive feeding before moving out of sight.
